Quality Assurance / Food Science Intern

Location: Chesterton Street Production Facility
Reports to: Quality Assurance Manager
Schedule: Part-time; 8-10 hours per week; flexible scheduling
Earnings: $15/hour

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager and working with the QA Team, the Quality Assurance Intern will learn the standard Quality Assurance methods performed in a food manufacturing facility, including the procedures required to meet regulatory and customer requirements. The Intern will assist with the development and implementation of the Supplier Control program as required by new FSMA regulations. The ideal candidate will compile raw material data; conduct materials risk assessments and assist with the collection and filing of the relevant supplier documentation.

Responsibilities also include but are not limited to:
 Performs routine testing for product quality
 Works with QA Department in other assigned projects related to food safety and quality
 Administrative tasks (filing, record maintenance, data entry in nutrition database program).
 Tracks and evaluates incoming ingredients and notifies QA department of any changes
 Undergraduate currently enrolled in Bachelor’s Degree program in Food Science, Nutrition or other related field; ideally junior or senior
 Good communicator in English (written, spoken, email, phone); communicates with immediate manager and others in a respectful manner
 Comfortable around computers and databases; effective in conducting internet searches; extremely accurate with numbers and data; good proofer
 Team player; willingness to contribute and help others at all levels
 Comfortable working in a cold environment at various intervals during shift
